California & Arizona Workers' Comp

                                       California Workers' Compensation

Most everyone know that this type of insurance is mandated by law.  It provides payment of medical care and compensation for lost wages for an employee who's injured in the course of their employment.

                 .       .

Employers are required to provide Workers' Compensation in California

California employers are required under Labor Code Section 3700 to provide to their employees Workers' Compensation benefits.  Failure to provide such benefits is a violation of the Labor Code punishable by imprisonment and/or by fine.

There are exceptions to Workers' Compensation coverage which should be reviewed on a case by case basis.  Sole business owners, business partners and corporate officers may be excluded from policy coverage.

                 California Workers' Compensation Benefits Include:

  • Medical Care
  • Temporary Disability Benefits
  • Permanent Disability Benefits
  • Supplemental Job Displacement Benefits (Return to Work)
  • Death Benefits

How Workers' Compensation Premiums Are Calculated

Workers' Compensation rating factors are normally based upon an employee's job classification and payroll amount.  Job classifications are determined by the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau.  Standard job classifications are listed in the California Workers' Compensation Uniform Satistical Reporting Plan.  View here...

Established rates are multiplied by each paid $100 of an employee's payroll.  Based upon the employer's prior loss experience the final premium is subject to adjustment by: Experience Modification, Credit/Debit and Premium Discount Factors.
